GRADING

The following are rules and policies relating to your grade. I do not give you a grade in social studies; you will earn it based on your homework, classwork, quizzes, projects and tests!

FORMATIVE
40%

Classwork, homework, quizzes, mini in-class assessments

SUMMATIVE

60%

Tests, projects, writing assignments

Formative assessments are considered a part of your learning, these assignments serve as practice and check for your current level of understanding. Because of this purpose, formative assessments may not be re-taken and should serve as an indicator of what you need to practice/review prior to the next assessment.

It is expected that all work be turned in on the day it is due in order to participate fully in class but work may be submitted prior to the end of the unit with a penalty. ALL formative work must be completed in order to re-assess any summative assessment.

In order to re-assess any summative assessment you must complete the PINK Request to Re-assess form, complete any missing formative work and set up a conference with the teacher.

"Knowledge is power. Rather, knowledge is happiness. To have knowledge, deep broad knowledge, is to know truth from false and lofty things from low."
